The 2020 vintage was the first late harvest of Moscatel Graúdo for Sangue Real. This wine was produced with the Moscatel Graúdo grape variety, a very traditional variety in the region Peninsula de Setúbal, harvested by the end of November from vines producing 3 tons per hectare. The resulting wine has a slightly amber colour, intense aroma of very ripe fruit, such as quince or pear. In the mouth despite the initial attack of sweetness, it finishes with a very pleasant acidity.
It can be consumed as an aperitif or with cheese. The winemaking production methods includes the grape maturation being controlled by defining the desired state of ripeness. The grapes, harvested by hand, are crushed and macerated for two days in a press with automatic treading and low temperature (16ºC), followed by gentle pressing & static decanting of cold (10°C) for 24 hours. Fermentation initially occurs very slowly at temperatures between 12 and 14ºC, then naturally stops, with at a lower temperature of 8 ° C, preserving part of the natural grape sugar.
This wine received an award in the blind taste of the magazine Paixão Pelo Vinho, Edition nº 82, page 39. It was awarded a silver medal with a score of 17/20.
