The 2020 harvest of Cabernet Franc & Cabernet Sauvignon was the first from Sangue Real. The vineyards are located close to the Natural Park of Serra da Arrábida, about 5 km as the crow flies from the Atlantic Ocean, with the Arrábida mountain range between the vineyard & the ocean, reducing the strong maritime influences & allowing for optimal conditions of maturation.
This wine is a blend of Cabernet Franc & Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties that have adapted very well to the terroir, with the vineyards having a productivity of 3.5 tons per hectare & being harvested during in mid-September 2020,

The resulting wine has a bright & intense ruby colour, with aromas of violets & black fruits such as currants & black cherries. It has a long finish, due to its fine tannins. It can be harmonized with all red meats, as well as roasted pork loin, pasta with tomato sauce, vegetables such as peppers or stuffed eggplants, sautéed mushrooms, beans or lentils. It can also be consumed as an aperitif or accompany cheeses such as brie, Camembert, or the famous cheese of Azeitão or the cheeses of the Serra da Estrela.

Vinification - manually harvested the grapes are destemmed & pressed, with the fermentation occurring in stainless steel. Pressed with automatic treading at a controlled temperature of 24ºC for two weeks, then was pressed, again. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in stainless steel for 22 months before bottling.
